Machining Services

In addition to the many stamped parts we create, Elmira provides precision machining for wide-ranging applications in a variety of industries. Our machine department is equipped with 5-axis Emmegi machining centers, CNC lathes, CNC mills, multi-spindle drills, manual mills and lathes and a host of other supporting equipment.

Production programs are virtually designed and downloaded directly to the machines. This allows us to produce faster, extremely accurate parts for our customers in an efficient manner, reducing scrap and lowering manufacturing costs for our customers.

We specialize in sheet metal and machined component fabrication, including milled extrusions up to 30 feet in length. ES&M presents a one-stop option for fabrication and assembly for customers in industries ranging from rail and automotive to aerospace, medical, and more.

Extrusions Up to 30 Feet

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing is a regional leader in metallic extrusion machining. Utilizing our multiple 5-axis machining centers, we are able to achieve the required cross-sections through sawing, deburring, drilling, turning, milling, tapping, and more on extrusions of up to 30 feet in length.

The precision machining of the extrusion cross-section is the critical task, and our Emmegi Satellite XT machining stations are known for accuracy as well as for speed in metal extrusions. Versatile 5-axis extrusion milling centers, the Emmegi Satellites are very good for both soft alloys and steel. They are designed specifically to put very sophisticated, tight-tolerance details into long extrusions.

Precision Component Machining

The ES&M machine shop also has the capability to produce precision-machined components, ranging from simple brackets and clips to complex parts requiring the highest level of accuracy, such as gears, shafts, bushings, connectors, and more.

Our machinists are also adept at creating prototypes for use in product development and testing. Prototyping can involve machining, stamping or a combination of both.

As an established stamping company, Elmira excels at cutting, shaping, and forming metal sheets and coils into various parts and components for a wide range of customers. The highly advanced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery we utilize in our stamping processes is also put to use building precision components for industrial applications of all kinds.

Some of the CNC processes we offer include:

Prototypes and Tooling

Our CNC machining capability allows Elmira to offer prototyping and component tooling services. It allows us to quickly create and test customers’ designs and tooling before they commit to full-scale production.

Precision Parts

Stamping isn’t always the best solution for certain precision components, like gears, bushings, connectors, etc. Our CNC machine shop can produce these parts quickly and efficiently.

Custom Parts

ES&M can machine intricately shaped, tight-tolerance, custom parts tailored to specific customer requirements.

Secondary Operations

Our CNC machine shop is also used for secondary operations on stamped parts, such as drilling holes, tapping threads, or adding chamfers and bevels.

Assembly Fixtures and Jigs

ES&M uses CNC equipment to create assembly fixtures and jigs that ensure accurate and efficient assembly of stamped parts into larger components.

Prototyping and Short Runs

Our CNC machine shop is often engaged in producing low-volume or one-off parts that don’t warrant the expense of stamping.
